DREAM A LITTLE DREAM OF ME by Pamela Turner
A somewhat surreal short story that has Xena and Gabrielle each dreaming a very similar dream but reluctant to talk about it. - 4 pgs., 2/26/98
**DREAMS LOST AND FOUND by Jim Kuntz
This talented writer returns with a deeply emotional, heartwarming tale of love and family, regrets and lost dreams that has the Lion of Amphipolis and her bard traveling to Poteidaia to visit with Gabrielle's family. Ever observant, Xena notices immediately the distance between Gabrielle and her father. It's a situation she senses hurts her partner deeply and when something hurts Gabrielle, it concerns the Warrior Princess so with the determination that once turned a village girl into the feared Destroyer of Nations, she attacks the problem head on, stripping away walls of silence a lifetime in the making and revealing the misplaced bitterness a taciturn old man has been clinging to instead of his family for so long. Jim's characterizations are all outstanding but particularly noteworthy is his treatment of the Warrior Princess. His Xena has that fascinating mixture of tenderness, raw power, danger and singleminded resolve that is at the heart of what has made this character so appealing for so many. The relationship between warrior and bard is fun and sexy, caring and fiercely committed. Touching too is Jim's depiction of Herodutus whose story holds a lesson for us all. Beautiful tale folks. A MUST READ! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! [See the follow-up story THE WILL OF THE LION] - 30 pgs., 5/7/99
AWARDS: "Getting Serious" Swollen Bud Award (Aug. 15, 2000)
**DREAMS OF THE NILE by Rebecca Hall
The author of the incomparable HEAVEN DOWN HERE and one of my other favorite stories, HER GABRIELLE: A RESPONSE returns with yet another winner - a passionate story about love lost and love rediscovered. A dramatic incident causes Xena to start remembering a painful part of her past - a time after which she closed her heart determined to never share it again. Only she faces now the greatest challenge to that resolution - a challenge in the form of a persistent little bard who desperately wants to open that heart... This is poignant and sensual. DO NOT MISS!! - 20 pgs., 11/23/97

DRINKING GAMES by Miss
One of Miss' early stories, this short tale has a playful bard getting just a tad inebriated while the Warrior Princess is there to look after her. - 4 pgs., 6/15/98
DRINKING SONG (THE) by TZ - see FRAGMENTS
DRUMS BEAT FOR YOU (THE) by Bard Blue
Following on the heels of IN THE COMPANY OF WARRIORS, Bard Blue's third entry in the series finds Xena proving her mettle to the Amazons as she undergoes a grueling test to show herself worthy of the Nation, and the Nation's queen. Meanwhile, Artemis has decided on a very special joining gift for the warrior and her Chosen. Bard Blue does a good job here of showing the warrior's tenacity and her fierce devotion to her partner. The story offers a nice combination of both action and romance. [See the sequel BLOOD OF AN AMAZON] - 15 pgs., 2/9/00
