**CANDY OR CHAOS by CN Winters
It's Harvest Festival time in Poteidaia and one visiting bard is determined to introduced Xena to the many traditions of the season. Despite the uneasy relationship with Gabrielle's father, the warrior decides to make the effort and to her surprise is soon enjoying herself a lot more than she thought possible. The festivities become even more amusing when warrior and bard find themselves dealing with two unexpected little problems but as it turns out everyone ends up discovering a bit of the kid inside. COMING HOME by CN Winters -- [Alt]
This intriguing sequel to CN Winter's HOMECOMING has Xena and Gabrielle returning from the island of Lesbo - anxious to tell their friends and family about their joining there. Among the different reactions to the news, one in particular, from an unsuspecting source, will suddenly turn their world upside down, threatening the bond they've forged together and cruelly denying them the simple comfort of each other. It MUST be Spring in this story because love is DEFINITELY in the air ;-) Featuring lots of romance, humor and some nicely emotional moments, this story is HIGHLY RECOMMEDED! [See also the sequel HOME SWEET HOME] - 66 pgs., 1/28/98

DUELING COUSINS by CN Winters -- [Alt]
Xena competes with a well-known cousin of hers for the affections of a certain bard. A very...affectionate new tale offering a very down-to-earth, real treatment of the Xena/Gab relationship. - 7 pgs., 10/9/98

**END (THE) by CN Winters -- [Alt]
As if going through about 5 kleenex boxes over the weekend due to a terrible cold wasn't enough, CN has just made me go through one more with this story. Alas, I'm such a sucker for punishment when it comes to beautifully written, heart-WRENCHING Xena fanfic <:) Inspired by a scene from ADVENTURES IN THE SIN TRADE - part 2, this little story chronicles the final moments in the lives of the Warrior Princess and her bard. BEYOND moving folks. Just exceptional. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENEDED - 3 pgs., 10/5/98

**FAMILY TIES by CN Winters -- [Alt]
While on a visit to Poteidaia, Xena and Gabrielle are faced with the challenge of trying to deal with the bard's family - and with an even bigger challenge when the two realize that they can no longer ignore the feelings that have grown between them. A delightful new tale from the keyboard of a very talented writer, this is a clever mixture of comedy, romance and drama that will leave you thoroughly contented. CN does a wonderful job showing the underlying love, the conflicts and the resulting humor in the relationships between her characters. Particularly effective are her depictions of a Xena and Gabrielle just beginning to explore a new facet to their partnership. DO NOT MISS this one! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - 30 pgs., 7/27/98

Sweet holiday story that has Xena, Gabrielle, their respective families and friends gathering for Solstice in Amphipolis where the warrior has her work cut out for her trying to mend some fences with her partner's father. Nice family feel to this one with some fun moments. [Note: story is available in both alt. and general versions] - 20 pgs., 1/21/00

HOME SWEET HOME by CN Winters -- [Alt]
A sequel to CN's COMING HOME and the third entry in her HOMECOMING SERIES, this story is set some five years after the warrior and bard first join. It is a time they remember with a bittersweet sadness now, at a loss to understand the distance growing between them despite the love still burning in their hearts. Determined to find a solution, however, the two head for the Amazon Nation and into the ancient equivalent of...marriage counseling :) CN offers an original storyline here with strong characterizations of both Xena and the bard as older and more mature. Emotional moments combine with some humorous exchanges in a passionate, action-packed story that comes HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - 64 pgs., 3/30/98 homesweet.htm

HOMECOMING SERIES by CN Winters - [Read in the following order]

HOMECOMING by CN Winters -- [Alt]
Xena and Gabrielle travel to the island of Lesbo to help Sappho and the people there track down the killer who's unleashed a reign of terror there. In the process warrior and bard begin to give in to feelings they've been to scared to ever admit before. This story has a little bit of everything - suspense, romance and action. [Also see the sequel COMING HOME] - 60 pgs., 11/9/97

INSIDE, OUTSIDE by CN Winters -- [Alt]
Set right after the events in the episode FAMILY AFFAIRS, this passionate new entry has Xena and the bard still in Poteidaia as they prepare to embark on a new life together. The choice is a difficult one to accept for Gabrielle's family but for the bard - there is no other choice. CN uses a shifting point-of-view technique here that is nicely effective as she reveals the thoughts of the different players. The characterizations are on the money, revealing a wonderful tenderness and devotion between warrior and bard. DO NOT MISS! - 9 pgs., 3/6/99

KISS (THE) by Jeannie and CN Winters -- [Alt]
Yet another story fragment/digital art combination featuring a tender moment of discovery between warrior and bard. -- 1 pg., 8/16/98
FANFIC ART: Contained within the story

The first in a series of short tales about a certain archeologist and her Southern belle of a partner, this new entry is told from Janice's point of view as she observes the love of her life and remembers some happy times from the past. Nicely written. - 3 pgs., 4/26/00

MAGIC OF EGYPT by CN Winters -- [Alt]
CN's latest is a combination Mel/Janice - Xena/Gab story that begins in 1946 with the archeologist and her partner traveling to Egypt. It is while working on a dig there that they discover a new set of scrolls written by their ancestors - scrolls containing a tale that will help change the lives of Mel and Janice forever, as the warrior and bard reach across the eons to give their descendants the courage to be honest. CN weaves the two separate stories in nicely, often using one to lead into the other. An entertaining read. [See the sequel MAGIC OF PARIS] - 30 pgs., 3/6/98
FANFIC ART: Xena Art Maker Story Cover

MAGIC OF PARIS by CN Winters -- [Alt]
A sequel to MAGIC OF EGYPT , CN's latest continues the tales of BOTH Xena and Gabrielle and Mel and Janice, chronicling remarkably similar times in the lives of both couples despite the millennia separating them. Welcoming a new addition to their family, Xena and Gabrielle remain passionately in love despite the demands of parenting and the insecurities that can come with it. Generations later, Mel and Janice reach a similar point in their lives when the beautiful Southerner confesses her desire to be a mother provoking a lot of soul searching as she and her partner grapple with the implications of that and the challenges of a lesbian couple trying to be parents in the 1950's. CN does a fine job here mirroring the lives of these four characters giving the story a certain sense of timelessness and establishing a poignant connection between the ancient soulmates and their descendants. DO NOT MISS! - 101 pgs., 4/6/99

MOMENT OF TRUTH by CN Winters -- [Alt]
This is a very creative new offering that begins with Gabrielle desperately trying to stop Xena from taking part in an upcoming battle. With no success at stopping the stubborn warrior, the little bard resorts to some desperate means never suspecting just how much her actions will change their lives. This is clever, passionate, and tenderly romantic. - 5 pgs., 1/6/98

**1971 by C.N. Winters and Tonya Muir - [Alt]
These two fanfic veterans combine their considerable talents to bring us a terrific new uber set amidst the unrest of one of the most volatile periods in United States history. With the Civil Rights movement gaining strength, the Vietnam conflict raging on and American society split into warring camps, Carol Johnson and Erin O'Fallon are just two of the many Americans on opposite sides of a widening gulf of political and ethical differences - one a police officer working within the establishment to keep order - the other a young artist and peace activist determined to challenge the establishment at every opportunity. Their destinies bring them together at a peace rally turned violent where officer Johnson arrests the blonde flower child only to find herself drawn in by the girl's surprising intellect and gentle humor. Sensing a timeless connection with the disarmingly beautiful officer, Erin pursues a friendship which soon leads to a sharing of both hearts and minds as the two overcome the differences between their worlds to concentrate on the similarities drawing them together. Kindred spirits each fighting in her own way for the greater good, the two discover in one another an undeniable sense of home and the wisdom to recognize that no one side in the society they live in is completely blameless for the troubling times that would forever mark their lives. CN and Tonya have done a fantastic job here in capturing the mood of this period in American history and examining both the positives and negatives of the different social views. Carol and Erin are beautifully drawn uber archetypes in one of the sweetest, most natural romances I've read this year. Solid writing, first-class storytelling and a sensitive portrayal of a society in turmoil make this fine writing collaboration a definite MUST READ! 1971 gets my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION! - 187 pgs., 8/30/99

**NOVEMBER 29, 1942 by CN Winters -- [Alt]
A charming, tender interlude that has Janice Covington surprising her partner on her birthday - and then getting a surprise of her own when the evening leads to some unexpected confessions. Romantic and very sweet. DO NOT MISS! -- 5 pgs., 9/14/98
[French version: LE 29 NOVEMBRE 1942 translated by John Doe at]

PLAY (THE) by CN Winters -- [Alt]
Amusing offering by another new bard that has the warrior and bard agreeing to help Salmoneous put on a play for royalty, never suspecting that their "acting" would reveal more than they intended... - 13 pgs., 10/8/97

**SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT by CN Winters and T. Novan -- [Alt]
These two fanfic talents bring us a delightful collaboration that finds the warrior and bard entering into a collaboration of their own when they overhear their friends conjecturing about their love life. Agreeing that it would be fun to teach them all a lesson the two decide to REALLY give them something to talk about by acting the part of lovers - only the role-playing soon starts hitting too close to home. This is a wonderful return to those playful, romantic, spicy, feel-good tales that originally made Xena alt. fanfic such a hit with fans. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - 25 pgs., 5/26/99
AWARDS: "Getting Serious" Swollen Bud Award (June 15, 2000)

Nice, feel-good little epilogue to the episode WHEN FATES COLLIDE featuring an unexpected lesson and a sweet bonding moment for warrior and bard. Good writing in a simple and satisfying relationship piece. - 3 pgs., 6/25/01

In a story that recalls Gabrielle's first experience with henbane in the episode ALTARED STATES, CN's new offering has the bard once again loosing all her inhibitions thanks to the drug...only this time the bard manages to get Xena in a slightly different and much more tempting situation ;-) Short, cute and sexy little tale. - 4 pgs., 5/10/98
[French version: TU T'ES VUE QUAND T'AS PRIS DE L'HERBE AUX POULES? translated by John Doe at]

TO NEW HEIGHTS by CN Winters - [Alt]
Extending that final scene in the episode MANY HAPPY RETURNS, CN has the warrior and bard returning from their "flight" to share a very romantic, sexy evening together. Lovely piece for the romantic in us all. - 4 pgs., 7/2/01
