WEDNESDAY FAN FICTION REPORT - 2/11/98
[Previous report was for 2/10/98]
Marie Costa has just re-released her episode vignettes which were lost when Zander closed her site several weeks ago. The vignettes are now at Lynka's site at this URL: http://www.amazontrails.com/xena/vignettes.htm
Below I include several I had never listed before as well as an update many of you will be interested in :)
LIFE HAPPENS by Marie E. Costa
This little vignette presents Gabrielle's thoughts during the events in the episode THE GREATER GOOD.
PERIOD OF ADJUSTMENT by Marie E. Costa
Emotionally charged tale set during the episodes INTIMATE STRANGERS and TEN LITTLE WARLORDS which has Gabrielle trying to deal with the aversion she feels for Callisto's body despite knowing Xena is within that body. This story nicely presents all those scenes we never got to see in the TV series.
MUSINGS and MUSINGS II by Marie E. Costa
Originally released on the NetForum in December 1996 and January 1997, these two separate vignettes are companion pieces which explore Xena and Gabrielle's feelings toward one another. They are thoughtfully written and very effective. DO NOT MISS!
BETRAYAL and BETRAYAL II by Marie E. Costa
These two vignettes are companion pieces which explore Xena's feelings throughout the episodes THE DEBT and BETRAYAL - THE DEBT, PT.2. They reveal a Xena hurt to the depths of her soul, struggling with feelings she no longer wishes to have...but cannot deny.
PERSISTENCE OF MEMORY by Paul Seely and Jennifer Garza
Part three of this story is now available. This is the highly anticipated sequel to one of the best uber-Xena stories available on the Net, SURFACING. Part one is now available and I have to tell you folks - it does NOT disappoint! Already this looks like it's going to rival Paul and Jennifer's first story as one wildly exiting ride! Featuring one VERY deadly encounter between a trained killer and the men assigned to protect its quarry, the opening sequence is a gripping combination of suspense, action, intrigue and pathos - set in sharp contrast to the scenes which follow as we see Diana and Charlie enjoying domestic life. The months of tranquillity, however, have not affected the ex-agent's razor-sharp senses which soon enough are warning her that the peace she's been enjoying may just be coming to an end. In this latest part, Diana revisits the past. As in SURFACING, Paul and Jennifer do here an outstanding job of imbuing their writing with a very contemporary "feel". The relationship between Diana and Charlie is characterized by an easiness between them - a level of comfort that reveals their love even in the smallest of gestures. Excellent writing and excellent storytelling. DO NOT MISS!! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
For those of you reading this post who are not familiar with the term alternative (alt.), it refers to ADULT stories that add a romantic element to the relationship between Xena and Gabby, depicting them as more than just friends.
