THE CONTEST by T. Novan
Part of the continuing RAISING MELOSA SERIES, this latest entry finds Xena and Gabrielle both exited and nervous over their eldest's first showing as an Amazon Princess in am upcoming sparing contest. It's a competition that leads to some unexpected developments. Nice characterizations along with a heartwarming depiction of the Xena/Gab relationship continue to make this series a delight to read. - 6 pgs.
ENOUGH ALREADY by Silk
Amusing new offering that has the warrior and bard visiting an art exhibit when Gabrielle decides to break that age-old "DO NOT TOUCH" rule ;-) - 3 pgs.
SO SOFTLY INSPIRED by S. Derkins
Sweet little hurt/comfort story that has Gabrielle taking care of a sick warrior who is soon motivated to resume her usual activities by the lovely bard. - 3 pgs.
HURRICANE WATCH by Melissa Good
Part nine is now being posted. Missy gives us all a VERY nice way to end the year and begin a new one with the promise of more TERRIFIC fiction to come as she unveils the sequel to her megahit TROPICAL STORM. Returning to work after the Christmas holiday, Dar and Kerry find themselves back in their usual hectic routines with one slight change - there's a new face on the block - an old one from Dar's past hired specifically to challenge the brilliant executive and with a grudge to settle as even more incentive. In this latest part Dark and Kerry continue to cement their lives together even as Dar realizes some of the challenges they are likely to face in a world that insists on classifying some forms of love as better than others. Continuing the characterizations from her first contemporary uber novel, Missy immediately starts to weave here an intriguing plot certain to reveal more about her heroines' past and to test them both emotionally and professionally. Lots of atmosphere, exceptional storytelling, charming humor and a profoundly appealing vision of the love between two soulmates always ensure the quality of a Melissa Good story. Her latest gets my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION! [unfinished] - 5 pgs.
NANO #6: THE FIRST LAW OF THERMODYNAMICS by Jules Mills
Part 6 is now available. The sixth installment in Jules already classic NANO SERIES finds Grace and her nano tech back home and busy at work while they continue building a life together. It's a life already full of both domestic and professional challenges as Doc seeks the help of a professional in trying to understand the darkness within her and both struggle to fulfill the promise of the technology they're working on. This latest section provides an interesting...anatomy lesson just before Dana and Grace get some unexpected visitors. Jules has achieved an easiness in her depiction of these characters and the relationship they share that continues to make her stories a rare treat. Exceedingly well-written, this new story promises the same mixture of humor, passionate romance and heartwarming emotions that have put Jules Mills among the creme-della-creme of XWP fanfic talents writing today. NANO #6 gets my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION! [unfinished] - 12 pgs.
"So Soft" by Angelique
Provided the inspiration for the story SO SOFTLY INSPIRED by S. Derkins.
For those of you reading this post who are not familiar with the term alternative (alt.), it refers to ADULT stories that add a romantic element to the relationship between Xena and Gabrielle, depicting them as more than just friends.
