[Previous report was for 8/14/97]

Hey guys,

First of all - a REMINDER to the bards out there who post on the NetForum and the various mailing lists - PLEASE, PLEASE make sure to archive your stories at one of the many XWP Fan Fic Web sites. I've been seeing a lot of good stories posted on the Forum and the mailing lists that have YET to make it to the Web sites. Bards, don't make me hafta hurt you ;-) Please consider all the fans out there who will love to read your stories but perhaps don't have access to the Forum or are not subscribed to the mailing lists you're on. Even if you post on the Forum, your story is NOT guaranteed to be available long term there. Right now on the Forum posts prior to January 1997 are NO longer available so any stories, poems, skits, parodies, and other works of fiction that were posted from late 1995 to 1996 and were not sent to one of the Web sites are likely FOREVER lost. XWP fan fiction has become an integral part of the XWP online experience. For those of us who read and enjoy fan fiction, which includes most Xenites I think, the works are a collective treasure we want to see available on the Net for future fans and for us all to re-read and re-live for many, many years to come. PLEASE ARCHIVE THAT FICTION!!!

As for tonight's report - we have an OUTSTANDING new story by a favorite bard of mine and an update to one of the best epics currently under construction :)

In the world of XWP alt. romances stories by L.N. James are known for taking the reader's breath away. Beyond writing about love or passion, L.N. depicts a connection between our heroines that reaches to the depth of their very souls - a connection that is the essence of all things romantic. In this latest story, L.N. explores that connection as Xena and Gabrielle return to Amphipolis to help the warrior's mother move from the house Xena grew up in. It is an opportunity for the Warrior Princess to share some of her childhood memories with Gabrielle, to remember a time of innocence before the darkness that engulfed her for so many years, but it is that darkness that still plagues her and that will challenge the love between warrior and bard as nothing has before. This latest is among L.N.'s best - rich in humor, sensually passionate, a love story NOT to be missed! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Parts 9-11 of Book 2 in Baermer's epic war saga are now available. Having decided to stand with the people of Poteidaia against the Athenian army, Xena and Gabrielle immediately become primary players as the warrior lends the Poteidaians her battle expertise and the bard works to rekindle in her people their sense of community and hope. Even as they try to help the beleaguered villagers, Xena and Gabrielle struggle also against personal challenges as they confront the bard's family for the first time since becoming a couple and begin to suspect that they may be pawns in a very dangerous battle between immortals. In these latest sections, the situation in Poteidaia continues to deteriorate as Gabrielle's world begins to fall apart around her. This story is exceedingly well-written with an intriguing, well-structured plot, great characterizations and a romance as epic as the historic events being depicted. Note that this tale is available in both subtext-explicit and subtext-lite versions.VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

For those of you reading this post who are not familiar with the term alternative (alt.), it refers to ADULT stories that add a romantic element to the relationship between Xena and Gabby, depicting them as more than just friends.

Happy reading!
