Hi guys,

I've added a new section to the BARD'S REFERENCE LIBRARY called NOTABLE WOMEN THROUGHOUT HISTORY. The section links to sites on the Net featuring information about women warriors and other women who've made a difference in our world. The information should be particularly helpful for bards in need of characters Xena and Gab can meet OR for historical figures to base those uber stories on. Some REALLY impressive females are mentioned at the various sites. THE BARD'S REFERENCE LIBRARY which is part of the LUNACY FAN FICTION REVIEWS page hosted by MaryD is at:

Bamaxena has opened a new XWP fanfic site called THE SCROLLS OF BAMAXENA. Featuring this bard's songs, poems and stories, the site is at

DebR's excellent TWO DINARS Web site which makes available episode reviews has now begun offering fanfic as well with the posting of Pursh's new crossover Xena/Brady Bunch parody. Check out TWO DINARS at

Ella Quince has added two new sections on dramatic structure to her resource site for bards, THE BLUE QUILL. The site is at

As to the fanfic - a new one and three updates tonight - all alt.

Intense new contemporary uber-Xena story that has private eye Sydney Wright faking her own death to try to confuse the mobster trying to kill her - only a small, redheaded wrench is thrown into her plans when her estranged ex-partner Sam comes into the picture - regretting very much the circumstances that once pulled them apart and determined now to help the detective at any cost. Nicely written with some suspenseful moments.

Part one is now available. This tale begins in the present day and follows the story of three very different women as their lives take on very different directions. At eighteen, Cat Thornwell embarks on a career as a master assassin, deadly and ruthless; at fifteen, Angie Cartwright has to go live with her uncle, a well-meaning but often drunk anthropologist; while at twelve Barbara Ann Evans suffers the loss of her entire family - killed in a senseless drive-by shooting. Nine years later, the lives of all three women will once again change, along with that of everyone on the planet, when the prophecies of old become reality and Armageddon is visited upon the earth. From the ruins that remain a very different world will emerge - a world once again plagued by cruelty and greed - a world where the strong prey on the weak and human beings once again look to the gods for hope and protection. Into this world the Olympians will be reborn and from this world heroes will once again emerge to champion the people and in become legends. In this first part Angie learns about the cruelties of her new world even as she sees a face from the ancient past. Well-written story with a fascinating premise. [unfinished]

Chapter 8 is now available. One of the most popular talents in XWP fanfic returns to once again help us deal with XWS as she did exactly one year ago with the release of the much loved classic A BARD DAY'S NIGHT. Set after the end of season three, DJ's latest finds Xena on a lonely stretch of beach, dazed after the loss of her soulmate, turning to the one place where she knows she'll feel the bard's spirit most of all - in Gabrielle's scrolls. Alone with Argo she begins reading those scrolls and reminiscing back to one of the last adventures they shared while on a fateful visit to a city named...Pompeii. With their relationship still not fully healed from the horror of the rift, this was a time full of insecurities and worries for them but also filled with a renewed sense of hope amidst the infectious joviality of a city preparing for one of its grandest festivals. They are even further drawn into the Pompeiian's excitement when they happen across an old friend well-versed in the art of FUN - the incomparable Sappho who we first me in A BARD DAY'S NIGHT and who is soon once again doing what she does best - getting them all into TROUBLE! DJ's Sappho is one of the greatest creations in fanfic while her treatment of the Xena/Gab partnership remains heartfelt and wonderfully compelling, made even more so this time around by the poignancy of seeing the warrior remember a time when they were both so stubbornly holding on to the love between them. As an added bonus, DJ is including some nice pictures and maps of Pompeii to give the story that added flavor. In this latest part, Gabrielle gets acquainted with ancient... plumbing :) DO NOT MISS!! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! [Note: review is based on a little more of the story than what is actually now available] [unfinished].

FESTIVAL by Melissa Good
Part two is now being posted. This is the sequel to PROMISES KEPT which finds the warrior and bard on their way to the Amazons to celebrate the Festival of Dyonisus, participate in games, enjoy some delightfully tasty nutbread, and generally just get into a lot of trouble ;-) Missy maintains the general sense of playfulness and happiness the warrior and bard achieved in PROMISES KEPT after learning that their little family will be growing. The opening of this latest offering embodies what makes this bard's fiction so very special - a magical sense of connection and trust and love between two soulmates reveling in the simple pleasure of being together. Don't even bother with reviews of a Melissa Good story - just go read. It gets my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION! :)

For those of you reading this post who are not familiar with the term alternative (alt.), it refers to ADULT stories that add a romantic element to the relationship between Xena and Gabrielle, depicting them as more than just friends.

Happy reading!
