Definition of Uber-Xena fiction

Uber-Xena Fan Fiction Contents Guide

This talented writer tries her hand at uber fiction this time around, producing a very different, very original contemporary story. Rosalind Olchawski considers herself a fairly ordinary college professor leading a fairly ordinary life - a life so ordinary and so bland, in fact, that recently Rosalind has started to wonder whether she's even capable of feeling that passion others seem to feel. It is a concern that is answered one evening when she accompanies a friend to a club and discovers in the startling blue eyes of a drag king the destiny she had been waiting for. Very well written, with characterizations that are sensitively done, a twist of the uber theme and an intriguing storyline this one should keep you hitting that page down button. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! [See the prequel THE DEAD COME KNOCKING IF YOU LEAVE THE SCREEN DOOR OPEN] - 183 pgs., 10/25/98

**OKTOBERFEST by Redhawk - [Alt]
This sequel to Redhawk's fantastic HIGHLANDER/XWP crossover tale, ONLY ONE begins on a plane bound for Europe on the first leg of a vacation Xena hopes will further aid in the recuperation of her young lover Rickie Gardner. Still suffering from horrific nightmares, Rickie is nevertheless flourishing in the warrior's company - starting to remember a life from very long ago and looking forward to a second chance with her soulmate. Unbeknownst to them, however, others are watching and waiting...knowing the life of an immortal will not be peaceful for long. Picking up where ONLY ONE left off, this story features a riveting, suspenseful plot and a strengthening of the Xena/Rickie connection. Definitely one for the MUST READ list. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! [See also the INFINITY SERIES] - 148 pgs., 9/11/98.

**ONLY ONE by Redhawk - [Alt]
This is a fantastic HIGHLANDER/XWP crossover story set in the modern world has the one-time Warrior Princess, now a deadly immortal, getting the shock of her life when she sees a familiar face lost to her centuries before. Rickie Gardner is a young runaway used to surviving amidst the danger and cruelty of the streets but when she witnesses a murder she becomes a target in a way she's never been before. Her one hope of survival now rests in a tall, dark stranger whose presence somehow calls to her and whose face she sees in dreams. Redhawk gives a poignancy and fire to the evolving romance in this story that makes it intriguing and beautiful and emotional all at once. The tale makes great use of flashbacks in much the same way the HIGHLANDER TV series used to. Suspenseful, action-packed and well-written, this is a MUST READ just as a XWP story but should be particularly entertaining for fans of both series. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! [Note: The story features extreme violence including sexual violence and rough language. Please make sure to read the disclaimers. Also see the sequel OKTOBERFEST and the INFINITY SERIES for similar tales]] - 114 pgs., 5/24/98

**OUT OF SARAJEVO by Poto - [Alt]
Poto's fanfic debut is an absolutely gripping uber experience guaranteed to leave a very lasting impression. Set amidst the horrors of the civil war in modern day Sarajevo, the story opens with a grizzly scene as photojournalist Taylor Wilson tries to chronicle the bloody aftermath of yet another attack on the city's terrified residents. Helping the wounded, army officer Alex Ryan cares little about the photographer's dedication to her job wanting only her assistance with those wounded. It is a surprised Taylor then who later finds the tall, beautiful army officer at her door wanting to recruit her for a very secretive and very dangerous mission. Resuming a partnership as old as time, the two set in motion a plan that will unknowingly reunite two halves of a soul, pitting them against overwhelming odds and proving once again that indeed...courage can change the world. Including some terrific, heart-stopping action sequences, this story further elevates itself above the rest with beautifully drawn characterizations of two very believable contemporary heroines. Driven by a sense of urgency and the knowledge of an uncertain future, the relationship they form in very little time is among the most deeply stirring I've read in a while. Poignant and reaffirming at the same time, this one will have you smiling one minute and then reaching for that kleenex box the next. Additionally, Poto's story is a wonderful tribute to the photojournalists who risk their lives every day in order to bring attention to the many injustices and atrocities still very much a part of our world. A MUST READ folks! It gets my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION! - 30 pgs., 12/22/98

OUT OF THE SHADOWS by Lyraine - [Alt]
Intriguing new uber story set in an apocalyptic world where an immortal Xena is stunned by the resemblance between a young woman fighting the darker denizens of this new world and the beloved bard she lost millenniums ago. Good characterizations, good writing. One to follow in the weeks ahead. [unfinished] - 8 pgs., 3/15/00

**OUTLAW by L.N. James - [Alt]
Written back in December 1997 some months before the release of her modern day hit CHICAGO 5AM this sizzling little tale was L.N. James' first experiment with uber fiction. Set in Kansas City in 1871, it looks at the relationship between two very different women - one a wanted outlaw, beautiful and deadly - the other a talented storyteller, loving and sweet. Amidst the danger and roughness of the world they live in, these two have forged a union of passion and trust and love - a solace the outlaw now treasures and the storyteller is determined to nurture into something even greater. Featuring LN's trademark mix of sensuality and emotion, this one should be tackled only with a nice supply of Amazon Ice within reach ;-) Invigorating storytelling I tell yah! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - 28 pgs., 5/13/99

OUTLAW by MythBard
This new uber-Xena story basically sets Xena: Warrior Princess in the Old West where a feared outlaw named Zeen Zamora is injured and soon finds herself having to deal with a stubborn little blonde who's determined to be her sidekick. Some amusing parts in this. - 2/8/98
